Food and Care For All, Inc. (FCFA)
FCFA was founded in 2019 in response to the increasing global needs for access to healthy food and quality medical services especially among underserved populations. FCFA serves marginalized populations in Maryland, U.S.A and around the world by promoting food security and infectious disease prevention services such as rapid HIV/STI counseling and testing, and linkage to PrEP for eligible individuals. FCFA also offers empowerment programs to end cycles of poverty. We have a strong volunteer system through which we carry out programmatic operations, especially food drive events. Funding streams are from private donors and local grantors.
Poverty: According to a report on poverty and health from the World Health Organization, approximately 1.2 billion people in the world live in extreme poverty (less than one dollar per day). Food is one of the most cited in the international document on fundamental human rights and ironically the most violated where the per capita food consumption in under-developed countries continue to decline. Africa has not been able to feed itself since 1970s and may be unable to do so soon.
Vision of FCFA: To reduce hunger and health disparities in low-resource settings across the world. Our vision aligns closely with most of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015.
Our areas of focus at FCFA include: Ending poverty and hunger; Promoting health and wellbeing; Reducing inequalities; and Partnering with other organizations with similar objectives to achieve a common goal.
